Chinese calligraphy workshop on Mid Autumn festival 24th September 1.00pm - 3.30pm

On Sunday 24th September, we will be running a special calligraphy workshop to celebrate Chinese Harvest Moon Festival (also known as Mid Autumn Festival), with lantern making and calligraphy practice.

Calligraphy was the paramount visual art form prized above all others in traditional China. Using only brush and ink, calligraphers developed their techniques over generations. Today, this powerfully graphic art is still valued as an outward expression of the artist’s state of mind. Its rhythm, movement and flow is accessible to anyone who views it, not only to those of us who can read Chinese characters.

In this 2.5 hour Chinese calligraphy workshop, you will learn the correct posture and basic techniques for writing a piece of Chinese calligraphy with May. May will introduce you to different common Chinese calligraphy fonts and teach you to write the Chinese characters in regular script. After practising some strokes and characters, you will be able to create your own art piece with favourite wordings / quotes on rice paper, bookmark, or framed paper etc.

All Chinese calligraphy tools will be provided throughout the experience as well as Mid Autumn festival celebratory treats. All you need to do is come with friends to enjoy a relaxing time and immerse yourself in Chinese calligraphy.

Date 24th September 1pm - 3.30 pm
