With spring just around the corner, we’re counting down the days until the 20th of March and looking forward to lighter days, warmer weather, and fresh inspiration for the home. To celebrate the season, we’re delighted to share a selection of beautiful and high-quality home goods and gifts, carefully curated for springtime at Rouge.

Introducing Our New Collection of Japanese Art Prints

We’re thrilled to announce our latest collection of Japanese Art Prints, featuring an exquisite selection of spring-themed designs. From delicate plum blossoms and lively bullfinches to elegant woodpeckers and serene waterlilies, these prints bring a touch of nature’s renewal into any space.

Rouge's new Japanese art print collection

Printed on luxurious pearlescent eco-certified paper, each piece is designed to preserve its beauty for years to come. To ensure longevity and structure, every print comes with an acid-free backing board. Produced in the London-based Japanese Art Gallery Studio, these prints make a striking addition to any home or workspace, whether framed or mounted.

Cherry Blossom Season at Rouge

Cherry blossom season is one of our favourite times of the year, and at Rouge, you’ll find a stunning selection of cherry blossom-themed homeware to celebrate it.

Our cherry blossom salad bowls have been a firm favourite each year, and this spring, we’re excited to offer smaller porcelain bowls designed to complement the larger serving bowls perfectly. Ideal for side dishes or rice, they add a delicate, seasonal charm to the table. As with all our Japanese ceramics, these bowls are crafted in Japan with impeccable attention to detail.

We also have cherry blossom chopstick rests, made by Kawai-ohashi, a renowned company in Obama City, Japan, which has been crafting high-quality chopsticks and accessories for over 400 years. These exquisite little rests are made of mother-of-pearl and carefully carved into the shape of delicate cherry blossoms. Blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, Kawai-ohashi incorporates techniques such as silk-screen printing, laser cutting, and inkjet printing to create beautifully intricate designs.

Mountain Range Mugs – A Spring Favourite

Our Mountain Range Mugs are always a customer favourite, and we have some stunning glaze variations perfect for spring. This season, we love the Lake Blue Glaze Mug, the Porcelain Forest Green, and the Green-Blue-Pink Glaze—each one reflecting the soft and fresh hues of nature’s awakening.

These handcrafted porcelain mugs come from Jingdezhen, China’s historic ceramics capital, where artisans specialise in unique, variable glazing techniques. The firing process, reaching temperatures of around 1250°C, produces deep, multi-tonal finishes. The interiors are glazed in dark brown with a graphite-like sheen, featuring a signature swirl pattern made by the maker’s fingertips. These exclusive pieces bring a refined, artisanal touch to everyday rituals.

For the Gardeners – Niwaki Tools & Beautiful Plant Pots

For those with a passion for gardening, we stock a carefully selected range of Niwaki tools and accessories. Crafted using traditional Japanese blacksmithing techniques, these tools are known for their precision, durability, and elegant design. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just beginning your journey, these high-quality tools make for a wonderful investment—or a thoughtful gift for the green-fingered person in your life.

We also carry a variety of plant pots, perfect for both indoor and outdoor spaces, designed to enhance the beauty of any plant they hold.

Flower Arranging with Kenzan – A Timeless Japanese Technique

If you love having fresh flowers at home but prefer a more structured approach to displaying them, our kenzans (also known as a "spiky frog") offer a simple yet elegant solution. We have two sizes available: 61 mm and 36 mm.

kenzan is a traditional Japanese tool used in ikebana, the art of flower arranging. It consists of a weighted base with sharp brass pins, which securely hold flower stems in place. This allows for greater control over composition and a more sculptural, natural-looking display.

Japanese kenzan for arranging flowers

Using a kenzan encourages a more sustainable approach to floral arranging, as you need fewer stems to create an impactful display, and flowers tend to last longer with better hydration. We also stock kenzan accessories and materials, perfect for those looking to explore or refine their ikebana practice.
